Undistributed beer of the week: Apocalypse Pony

Share

There can only be one undistributed beer of the week. The competition is fierce in San Diego’s beer community, but someone has to take the title. This week’s best undistributed beer is...

Fall Brewing Company: Apocalypse Pony

Style: Imperial Stout

ABV: 8.3 %

Pair with: Cheesecake or smoked sausage

This deep, roast-y stout is dangerously smooth. The dark, malty and bitter flavor of Dark Horse Coffee is the base of this concoction; however, it’s the creamy, Nitro-like factor of this unique brew that separates it from the competition. Notes of vanilla lighten up the bold flavor leaving a velvety, soft finish.

There’s nothing quite like the genius of a well-made craft beer and a local coffee roaster coming together; a point proven true upon taking a mere sip of this powerful stout. The original collaboration of Fall Brewing Co. and Dark Horse Coffee Roasters, who both own popular establishments in the North Park area, was a beer called 2 a.m. Bike Ride, a 5.5% stout. Fall regards Apocolypse Pony as 2 a.m.’s big, imperial brother. This beer is currently available on tap at Fall Brewing Company.
