SoNo Fest and Chili Cook-Off is back
It’s time to spice up your life! No, I’m not talking Spice Girls. I’m talking about chowing down on homemade, fiery chili from over 40 local restaurants. The sixth annual SoNo Fest and Chili Cook-Off will return to the hip neighborhood of North Park on Sunday, Dec. 6 for a day-long competition featuring live music and entertainment.
The cook-off will award one winner the coveted title of most loved chili. Participating restaurants include Big Front Door, The Blind Burro, Lucha Libre, Urban Solace, West Coast Tavern, Blind Lady Ale House, Panama 66 and many more. As you cruise around sampling delicious chili recipes, enjoy 11 local bands who will be bringing their music stylings to two different stages.
There’s no need to go thirsty at this event. A craft beer and wine garden with a plethora of local breweries and wineries will be on deck to wash down the spicy, flavorful dishes. Event-goers are welcome to shop at the over 30 local vendors on site, each offering unique handmade goods, ideal for getting some of that holiday shopping taken care of along the way.
If the mass amounts of chili start to overwhelm you, there will be nine of North Park’s most popular food vendors on site as well.
This family-friendly day of fun will have bounce houses, ping pong mini-tournament, crafts, prizes and karaoke for the kids to enjoy.
The event will go from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tastings are $20 and include a handmade ceramic chili bowl and five tastings. Attendees who bring their own bowl can save some cash and enjoy the five tastings for $15.
All event proceeds will benefit the McKinley Elementary School foundation.
