There is plenty to see and drink around town during San Diego Beer Week, what with over 100 operating breweries calling SD home. Some may be familiar with those extremely large party buses that pull up in front of breweries to celebrate a bachelor party, a birthday or to explore one of the most successful beer capitals in the U.S.
But, there is one tour that stands out against the rest. The first-ever Beer Geek Tour has just been announced, and it is a must-try for those who are already familiar with the basics of craft beer.
Here’s your chance to get an in-depth look at some of the classic spots around town that have made this brewing community what it is. During the all-inclusive bus tour, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at various aspects of what it takes to make the fantastic beer that we know and love.
The trip includes a look at the brewing process at White Labs, known for their yeast that many local beer companies use in their brews. The experience will also include a private tour and tasting at White Labs, sure to educate beer nerds on how important yeast is in the process of beer-making.
Next stop will be at Stone Farms where you’ll get to see the organic farming approaches and hop-harvesting methods utilized by one of the top breweries in the nation.
Lunch will be provided at Brothers Provisions, an artisan cheese-shop, restaurant and bottle shop in North County. The final stop of the day will take place at Societe Brewing Company for lots of beer-tasting and craft-beer education.
Tours will begin during San Diego Beer Week on Nov. 6, 7 and 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. They will continue the following week on Nov. 13, 14 and 15.
The bus will be picking up event-goers at the Old Town Transit Center, 4009 Taylor St., Old Town.
Tickets are $115 per person and can be purchased at epicureansandiego.com.
