Drink your brew guilt free after joining up with one of these San Diego area brewery running clubs.
Go: Resolve to get in shape — with beer! At least two local breweries sponsor running clubs, blending good cardiovascular workouts with good craft brews.
Know (1): The Thursday Beer Run Club meets 6:30 p.m. weekly at Eppig Brewing’s Shelter Island beer garden. After a 3-mile jog around Shelter Island, most athletes return to Eppig to, ahem, rehydrate. Read more about the partnering running club here.
Know (2): Mikkeller Running Club San Diego meets monthly, usually on a Saturday morning. Check the Facebook page — facebook.com/mrcsandiego — for times, places and beers.
Pro: At Eppig, runners are treated to $1 off the normal $7 pint price Thursday nights.
Glow: Stephanie Eppig, the brewery’s co-owner, says most runners order a pilsner or another lager. “Something light and refreshing,” she said. “But now that it’s getting colder, a few people are switching over to stouts and schwarzbier.”
