Karl Strauss’ 26th anniversary bash

Share

Since 1989, craft brews have been pouring out of Karl Strauss Brewing Company. For those of you keeping track, this was before craft beer had its “in” moment in San Diego, before tourists started flocking to the city just to visit the endless influential, industry-leading breweries. The 26th anniversary of Karl Strauss Brewing Co. is not just momentous; it’s impressive.

To celebrate appropriately, they’re pouring out limited edition local craft beer at the Changing of the Barrels event, taking place on Saturday, Feb. 7.

So what’s “changing” exactly? The event will debut the 26th Anniversary Belgian Dark Strong Ale that has been aged in the barrels for the past 12 months. And before the new 27th Anniversary Double Chocolate Imperial Stout goes into the barrels for the next year of brewing, guests will have the exclusive chance to taste it first.

Aside from enjoying the 26 special brews on tap, those in attendance will dig into food from MIHO Gastrotruck, groove to the live music from Dead Feather Moon, take a tour of the brewery and interact with the Karl Strauss brew crew. All will leave with a souvenir tasting glass and bottle of the 26th Anniversary Belgian Dark Strong Ale.

Changing of the Barrels will take place on February 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Karl Strauss Main Brewery, 5985 Santa Fe Street. Tickets are priced at $45 per person; currently sold out. For more info, visit karlstrauss.com.
