Hoppy India Pale Ale Day!
Today, August 6, beer enthusiasts around the world toast to the hoppy beer style dubbed IPA.
First celebrated in 2011, the "holiday's" origin is unclear, but the term "India Pale Ale" was first used in an Australian newspaper ad.
IPA Day is an opportunity for all breweries, bloggers, businesses and consumers to connect and share their love of craft beer.
Here in San Diego, some may argue that we are the IPA capitol of the world.
In fact, in 2013-2014, the San Diego History Center featured a special exhibit on the history of beer titled "Bottled and Kegged: San Diego's Craft Beer Culture."
In honor of IPAs, here's a list of my TOP five favorite IPA's in San Diego.
- Pizza Port Swami's IPA
- Green Flash West Coast IPA
- Societe The Pupil
- AleSmith IPA
- Ballast Point Sculpin IPA
