Do Me a Flavor

Benchmark Brewing is famous for its “beer-flavored beer"-straightforward ales and lagers brewed without flavor additives. This latest offering from the family-run interest is no different. Bready and caramely, with a touch of back-end spice, it’s a Scottish strong ale archetype that is unrivaled among the aluminum sect. Part of the brewery’s new Parks Collection quartet of canned seasonals, it joins Hop Chunks Double IPA and upcoming releases Voyager Belgian-style Dark Ale and Primitive Camp Pilsner.

Since debuting 16-ounce tallboys a few years ago, Pizza Port has proved itself a can-do operation. And the coastal San Diego brewing stalwart is adding to its cylindrical stock with this new “strong pale ale.” Crammed full of hops like an India pale ale (IPA) and fortified with a grain-bill substantial enough to balance out the bitterness of those aromatic, flavorful buds without overshadowing them, it’s a beer that perfectly conveys the Port’s adeptness at crafting suds suited for a beachy lifestyle.
