Fun, food and fitness is the name of the game at the Cooking Light & Health Fit Foodie 5K, coming to San Diego from Nov. 6-8. Don't be fooled; This is not your average race experience. It's a weekend extravaganza set in Embarcadero Marina Park South that aims to celebrate all things health.
The three-day event will feature live cooking demonstrations from talented, health-conscious chefs, advice from celebrity fitness experts, beer and wine tastings, tasty food and lots of goodies to take home with you.
The first event is a VIP Cocktail Party taking place on Friday night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Music Box in Little Italy. This is an opportunity to socialize with the editors of "Cooking Light" and "Health," celebrity chefs and other event-goers. It will be a pre-race night full of mingling, free giveaways and all-inclusive food and drinks.
After enjoying a Friday night on-the-town, you'll be nice and relaxed for race-day. Run a quick 5K around the downtown course on Saturday with all of your fellow Fit Foodies. Participants will get pumped-up before their run with a pre-race group stretch and dance party at 7:30 a.m. to get good vibes flowing for the day ahead. The race will start at 8 a.m. and post-race fun will be awaiting at the finish line. There will be live cooking demos, craft beer and wine and tons of free treats from a plethora of healthy sponsors.
Sweat sessions are made for Sunday mornings in San Diego. Especially when they're imparted by a certified instructor of Tracy Anderson, an applauded celebrity trainer and bonafide fitness celebrity. Come out to the Tracy Anderson Method event, the final event of the weekend, to get chiseling away on your hot bod. The session will focus on abs, butt, arms and just about every other part of your body with a mat-based workout. The outdoor, all-level class will start at 9 a.m. A healthy brunch from Marina Kitchen will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Tickets are $55 per day; $150 for a weekend package.
