It's the year of the fancy taco in San Diego, and if you're in the know, there's only one place to be on Tuesday nights this October. Taco Fights are back for their fourth year of slam-down taco cook-offs at Blind Burro from 7 to 9 p.m.
Chefs from various local restaurants will face-off in the weekly taco takeover. The winner of each round will be determined by attendee votes after sampling each chef's delicacy and deciding on the taco of choice. The first three Tuesdays will feature one-on-one battles for the title, leaving the fourth week for the championship round, in which all victors will participate. Round one starts on Oct. 6, featuring Jeff Rossman of Terra American Bistro vs. Jason McLeod of Ironside Fish & Oyster Bar.
Taco-trying is $9 per round. For those who want more than just a couple of tacos, you can upgrade to a "Caballero" package for $16, which includes two tacos plus a side of ceviche or guacamole and a salsa flight. Or, get the "Gran Jeffe" package which includes two tacos, small nachos and a drink selection for $28.
Of course, what good would watching a taco fight be without some additional deals? $7 Espolon Cadillac Margaritas, $4 Dos XX beer and $5 El Silencio Mezcal shots will also be available on-site.
Enjoy some original, homegrown creations and help determine which chef takes this year's taco title! Admission is free.
