Sweet Spirits: Gelato Cocktails at Chocolat
For creamy Italian gelato served in a charming European café atmosphere, locals trust Chocolat in San Diego. Yes, this bistro and cremerie serves far more than just dessert. But anyone who has tasted this divine treat in Italy knows that when gelato is on the menu, it’s hard to order anything else. And with so many exotic gelato flavors available, it’s practically a well-balanced meal to nosh on wild strawberry for breakfast, basil lemon for lunch and classic dark chocolate for dinner. That is my kind of diet.
And now, Chocolat is adding a new dimension of indulgence to the fall menu with gelato cocktails. Chocolat’s new gelato cocktails are hand crafted with house-made gelato and infused with various flavored liqueurs. After a multi-course dinner with little room left, it’s so hard to choose between dessert and another cocktail. Can’t we have the best of both worlds? In raising the bar for dessert drinks, Chocolat is simplifying and sweetening your dining experience.
There is a gelato cocktail for all tastes and cravings. Creamy gelato cocktails include the Pistachi-Oh My Gawd with fresh pistachio gelato, and the White Chocolate Hazelnut Awesomeness with white chocolate and vanilla bean gelato, both are mixed with various liquors by request. Fruity gelato cocktails range from the Lemon Vodka Sorbet Martini made with fresh lemon gelato, prosecco and vodka liqueur, to the Pineapple Sorbet Martini made “Pina Colada Style” with fresh pineapple and coconut gelato and prosecco. And chocolate-lovers will obsess over the Espresso Gelato Martini made with milk chocolate gelato, espresso shots, vanilla syrup and vodka liqueur, as well as the Cantaloupe Sorbet which is blended with prosecco and vodka liqueur and served with Chocolate Port.
Gelato cocktails are now available at both Chocolat locations, in Hillcrest and the Gaslamp Quarter. Chocolat also serves salads, sandwiches, crepes, desserts, coffee and tea. For more information, visit chocolatsandiego.com.
