Rosé all Day. Team Rosé. Guns N’ Rosé. And, even Brunch and Brosé. The pink wine that has become a national sensation has elicited a plethora of signature t-shirts, wine glasses, and decorative quotes on Facebook.
As one of the most versatile wines on the planet, rosé can be paired with anything from fruit salad to BBQ ribs with equal gusto. In a nutshell, rosé can be made in one of three ways: By maceration, or leaving juice in contact with the skins of red grapes; the saignée method, where red wine is “bled off” and used to make a rosé; or by blending red wine juice with white wine juice to dye the wine pink.
Rosés can vary in color from pale salmon to a rich pinkish-red, while dominant flavors and aromas include strawberry, cranberry, melon, citrus, and rose petal.
Now a year-round favorite in San Diego, rosé is on menus all across the county. To satisfy rosé cravings out on the town, here are some special treats not to miss, as well as a few affordable bottles and deals for $15 and under.
