Lion’s Share to unveil new cocktail list at release party
Who doesn’t love enjoying a handcrafted cocktail when bar hopping around downtown? Lion’s Share is wanting to reconfirm your belief in the power of a great cocktail during a party that will unveil the restaurant’s brand new list of specialty cocktails.
There will be a total of 32 drinks on the new list, and aside from four of the more high-end cocktails called their “spoils,” each cocktail will be just $8 during the May 31 party. From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., there also will be live music and delicious bites from the restaurant.
For those who currently frequent the bar and already have a favorite on the menu, not to worry. Twelve cocktails on the list, considered classic Lion’s Share cocktails, are staying put. But you know what they say, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone,” so why not branch out to try one of the brand new cocktails, which also features a few alcohol-free selections.
Jason O’Bryan, bar manager at Lion’s Share, worked at both URBN and Seven Grand in the North Park area prior to landing his current gig. O’Bryan has helped to build the daring list of craft cocktails that he claims may be one of San Diego’s most adventurous cocktail lists, ever.
“The drinks are arranged in columns according to the base spirit used and each column reads top-to-bottom,” O’Bryan said. “(From) most approachable to most adventurous, meaning seasoned cocktail snobs can drink the bottom row, while our newer-to-cocktails guests can peruse the top.”
Want a sneak peek at the new cocktails? On the list will be Mr. Peanutbutter (a peanut-butter infused bourbon cocktail), Boy King (a bottled cocktail made with Copper and King’s absinthe, amaretto and root beer), and Bitter Tears (equal parts cynar, Japanese whiskey and pineapple-infused white rum with drops of a saline solution).
