Where to partake in March Madness


March means one thing for sports enthusiasts and avid basketball fans: pure madness.

Through the Sweet 16 and onto the Elite 8, the Final Four and the Championship Game on April 6, catch all of the action at these San Diego sports bars.

Draft Mission Beach: Fans can choose from over 60 taps, while gazing at their teams on the stunning 31 foot screen, which can be divided into multiple viewing areas. March Madness specials include the “Hopped up on Hoops” promotion, where craft beer foodies can enjoy a Draft burger or wings and a beer from Coronado for $20. 3105 Ocean Front Walk, Mission Beach.

Oggi’s Brewhouse & Pizza: With seven locations in San Diego, basketball fans county-wide can find a location nearby. With their own award-winning brews, 20 rotating local taps, multiple flat screen TV’s, and their beloved pizza, Oggi’s is a sure thing for your NCAA fix.

Slaters 50/50: The home of the 50/50 burger (that’s 50% beef and 50% bacon) is also known for their vast craft beer selection and plenty of TVs. They’re kicking off the first-ever March bracket contest with customers this year, and the person with the best bracket after each round wins a free burger. Lumberyard Tavern: College basketball fever is hitting Encinitas bigtime at Lumberyard Tavern. They’re treating loyal fans with a raffle for a new snowboard, lift tickets and a $50 Lumberyard gift card. The Duck Dive: All March long, this wing-central spot will open at 9 a.m. for $3 Absolut Bloody Buddies, $15 bottomless mimosas and brunch to scarf down while watching the games. In the afternoons, they’ll be serving $20 buckets of Coronas. 4650 Mission Blvd., Pacific Beach.

Woodstock’s Pizza: During the month of March, this San Diego pizza spot is rolling out a brand new pizza dubbed the “Baller Pie.” Hungry fans can get a bite of the pulled pork over Carolina BBQ sauce, white onions and Canadian-style bacon topped with green onions. Tavern+Bowl: The bowling lanes might entertain you, but it’s more likely that the 50 flat screens will be your main resource in surviving March Madness. With tons of beers on tap, you’ll be well-hydrated to cheer your team through a victory.
