Watch bartenders battle at Tiki Oasis 2016

Share

If you’re a tiki cocktail connoisseur, you’re likely already aware that San Diego has become a happening spot for skilled tiki bartenders to practice their craft. Four hand-chosen San Diegan bartenders will put their talents to the test on Monday, July 11 at the Tiki Oasis 2016 competition, taking place at George’s at the Cove.

The event will feature bartenders from across San Diego competing in a head-to-head style competition, judged by Kelly Davis, a local freelance journalist and Anthony Schmidt of Noble Experiment and Consortium Holdings. The competition will kick off at noon and run until 2:30 p.m.

The theme of this event is Party on Monster Island, paying homage to classics like “King Kong,” and the “Creature from the Black Lagoon” that go hand-in-hand with that tropical, island-y vibe of tiki culture.

Watch the show go down as the bartenders mix their best take on a killer tiki cocktail. There will also be a happy hour from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. to follow, with special cocktails inspired by the bartender’s creations.

The event is free to attend. RSVP through their Facebook page.
