Stitch app offers new ways to experience events
This summer, representatives for a soon-to-launch app called Stitch have been traveling across San Diego to sign people up and give away prizes.
That means team members have had an amazing summer attending events at some of San Diego’s premier venues and attractions - everywhere from the Del Mar races and Padres games to the world famous San Diego Zoo and weekly events such as the Ocean Beach farmers market.
They even created a superhero costume specifically for attending Comic-Con, where everyone wanted their photo taken with “Super Stitch,” as he was called, and jumped at the chance to sign up when they learned about the app.
“Everywhere we’ve been, the response has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Dena Beacham, a spokesperson for Stitch.
It’s all part of a prelaunch campaign that runs through Thursday, Aug. 27, to generate interest in the app.
Its founders describe Stitch as a cool new way to experience people and places around you.
Say you’re in the mood for a fun night out on the town. Simply search for a specific destination, or browse the map to get a real-time look at what’s going on. Users can also use the timeline feature to see what they may have missed earlier that day, or the week before - or even last year.
The best part? Stitch will have exclusive content that can’t be viewed on any other social media app. So, if you’re at your favorite singer’s concert, or watching your favorite athlete compete in a big event, Stitch will offer behind-the-scenes photos and videos that no one else can access.
“Stitch is perfect for anyone looking to get a 360-degree view of what is going on around them while also gaining exclusive access to content that won’t be found anywhere else,” Beacham said.
The app also has a VIP member list that’s in the midst of being built. A select group of VIP members will have the opportunity to preview the app and can download it before anyone else. They will also be in the running for what Beacham calls some “pretty sweet prizes” for members who refer their friends, including a weekly $1,000 cash prize, and an all-expense-paid vacation for two to travel anywhere in the world (plus an iPhone to “stitch” the trip). There are currently 210,000 people signed up on the VIP list.
While there are countless photo and video-sharing apps out there - not to mention the large number of “social” apps - Stitch doesn’t really fit in either category.
“We are an app that focuses on serving up relevant, fun and exclusive content that enables you to experience your life and what is around you in a new way,” Beacham said. “We have a lot of fun and interactive features up our sleeve, you’ll just have to join our VIP list to learn more about them.”
