9/18-20: KAABOO Music Festival @ Del Mar Racetrack,

More than 100 musicians, comedians, artists and chefs make their way to Del Mar in September for KAABOO - a Coachella-esque three-day music festival minus the two-and-a-half-hour drive to, and blazing temperatures in, Indio.

Top 40 artists No Doubt, The Killers, Zac Brown Band, Train, Snoop Dogg, Foster the People and more than 70 other musical acts will perform live on seven stages throughout the long weekend, while comedians Joel McHale, Lewis Black, Chris D’Elia, Anthony Jeselnik and more perform inside the air-conditioned Humor Me comedy club.

A craft beer garden, local chefs and restaurants, and more than a dozen on-site artists and galleries round out the offerings of this inaugural fest, held where the surf meets the turf

This rock band from Mexico City went by the moniker Three Souls in My Mind before changing its name in 1985.

9/11: Kansas @ Pauma Pavilion,
TV shows South Park, Family Guy and Scrubs have featured this classic rock band’s 1976 hit, “Carry on Wayward Son.”

In 2012, this R&B trio received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

This pop/rock artist’s mother is Silvia Pinal, an internationally known actress; her father, Enrique Guzmán, is considered a pioneer of Mexican rock and roll.

9/12: Indie Jam 2015 @ Junior Seau Oceanside Pier Amphitheatre,
Indie/alt. rockers Silversun Pickups, Metric, Houndmouth, Meg Myers and others take the stage during FM 94/9’s annual concert event.

In 2006, this pop/rock musician’s Limón Y Sal record won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.

9/19: Paul Anka @ Pechanga Resort & Casino,
Canadian singer-songwriter Paul Anka wrote “She’s a Lady,” which became a huge hit for Tom Jones in 1971.

9/20: Ricky Martin @ SDSU’s Viejas Arena,
The “Livin’ La Vida Loca” (1999 breakout hit) pop star currently serves as a judge on the Aussie version of The Voice.

Ten-time Grammy Award-winning jazz singer and instrumentalist.
