Thanks to a years-long series of megastar DJs performing on the city’s most celebrated rooftop, America’s Finest City is now offically the nation’s rockin’-est.

At the 2014 Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show (see sidebar), held in Las Vegas in March, Hard Rock Hotel San Diego’s over-the-top Intervention Sundays pool parties earned the supreme national distinction of Promo, Party or Event of the Year.

“Our mission is simple,” says Andy Hersch of Gramercy Management Group (GMG), who books the talent for Intervention. “All we want is to give our guests the best time of their lives.” Mission accomplished.

GMG runs Intervention Sundays, which attract more than 1,500 people to the Gaslamp every Sunday during summer (end of April through mid-September). The group also operates Hard Rock Hotel San Diego’s über-popular venues: Float, the pool deck and rooftop; and 207, the street-level, LED-walled nightclub on Fifth Avenue.

Hersch, who says equal credit for the historic win goes to his GMG business partners Joe Barbour and Justin Zotts, promises another winning line-up for Intervention Sundays 2014. This season’s roster already includes:
