Moonshine Flats kicks off summer concert series
Moonshine Flats, downtown San Diego’s premiere country bar and dance hall, is rolling out its summer concert series beginning with up and coming country band Old Dominion on Wednesday, May 20. Performances by a variety of rising country stars will continue throughout summer. Moonshine Flats is selling no advance tickets for these events but will have a cover charge at the door.
In addition to Old Dominion, this 10,000-square-foot honky-tonk, which boasts a state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment and a massive 32-foot LED screen, will host other up-and-coming acts including Dallas Smith, Blackjack Billy and James Otto.
Those involved with Moonshine Flats hope the venue will become the go-to destination for emerging and top country artists.
“We want Moonshine Flats to become the premiere West Coast live music venue for hot country artists, big and small,” said Ty Hauter, owner. “My goal is to be on par with legendary venues such as Joe’s Bar on Weed Street in Chicago and House of Blues. We know we are the new kid on the block, but we are working hard to establish ourselves as a can’t-miss destination for touring shows.”
Dallas Smith, a noted young Canadian performer who recently opened for Florida Georgia Line and Bob Seger, will perform at Moonshine Flats on Friday, May 29. Blackjack Billy, a country rock band known for their “Redneck Rock,” will take the stage at Moonshine Flats on Wednesday, June 3. James Otto, known for a bluesy, muscular voice and a dynamic stage presence, will heat things up at Moonshine Flats with his concert on June 28.
Shows are currently on a first-come, first-served basis, and tickets will never be more than $15, with most shows being only $5 for those who arrive early.
Located at 344 Seventh Ave. in downtown San Diego’s East Village, Moonshine Flats opened in 2014, quickly becoming a favorite among locals and visitors. Featuring live music every Friday and Saturday and line dancing lessons every Thursday, Moonshine Flats is now considered San Diego’s top country bar. This country-rock dance venue boasts five bars, including one described as the longest bar in Southern California, and a dance floor touted as San Diego’s largest. The deck at Moonshine Flats, an open air extension, is open now as well.
