"Really, it's done out of love and respect," Sarraf adds. "We've always done bootlegs, and we've always played other people's bootlegs in our sets. It's an important part of the culture."

With plans to release collaborations with Kreesha Turner, Nadia Ali, and The Chain Gang of 1974 later this year, Sultan + Shepard show no signs of slowing down.

"We're always working on a ton of music," Shepard says. "That's not changing anytime soon."
