Following in the footsteps of the majorly successful original Cake location in Scottsdale, Cake Nightclub - led by EveryDay Life (EDL) - is opening a San Diego location in the former Voyeur space.
Big shoes to fill? Definitely. Voyeur left a mark on the San Diego nightlife scene, and its closing certainly ruffled some feathers. But Cake has a reputation for bold and beautiful design, VIP standards and a new take on the typical club experience that seeks to elevate the downtown scene.
"When the opportunity came to purchase Voyeur, it was a no brainer to design and build our flagship Cake Nightclub on the foundation of this incredible location as it has been nothing less than amazing," said co-founder of EDL Tosh Berman. "We have always wanted to be part of the Gaslamp hospitality scene and we couldn't be happier to be in San Diego amongst the incredible people that we have built so many amazing relationships with over the years."
This boutique nightlife venue with 17th century European designs is most widely known for the sweetly dressed "Cake Dolls," the beauties in charge of premium bottle service. "French chateau meets 'Alice is Wonderland'" is how it's being described by the team, co-founded by Amrou Manaseer and Tosh Berman.
The space comes in at 6,000 square feet, spanning two levels with a main room and mezzanine, crystal gold chandeliers and leather banquets. The DJ booth will anchor the dance floor and debut a 30-foot translucent LCD display.
