Booze cruise: Get hoppy on the harbor

In need of a refreshing, new venue for drinking delicious craft beer? You can sip stellar brews on the San Diego Bay with waterfront views and gourmet food options aboard a Flagship cruise.

On Friday nights, Flagship Cruises and Events hosts Hops on the Harbor, a craft beer dinner cruise that brings the best of beer and cuisine together to indulge in. The beers are carefully selected and feature a rotating list of local, San Diego breweries. January’s brewery on deck is Modern Times Brewing.

For each cruise, hand-crafted dinner items will be prepped to pair perfectly with the corresponding month’s brewery. For example, January offers five different dinner and Modern Times beer pairing options to choose from, including the Fortunate Islands IPA paired with a charred tri-tip with habanero honey sauce, scalloped potatoes and oven roasted vegetables. There will also be a dessert station loaded with chocolate mousse cakes, homemade bread puddings and more.

The cruise is two-and-a-half hours long and features a full-bar filled with additional local brews and craft beer flights for purchase. Grab a date and admire views of the San Diego skyline, the U.S.S Midway Aircraft Carrier, Star of India, Coronado Bay Bridge and the North Island Naval Air Station.

The event also features live music and a dance floor to keep the party pumping. The cruises board at 7 p.m. and cruise from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
