A Star Wars Lightsaber Battle is happening in SD
Whether you’re more in tune with the dark side or the light side, get involved in the epic craziness that is coming to San Diego to celebrate the opening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” in theaters on Thursday, Dec. 17.
The first event we recommend checking out is the Lightsaber Battle down at Embarcadero Marina Park North. The massive gathering of Star Wars fans will welcome all sides of The Force. The event will pin Jedi vs. Sith for a fierce competition on Saturday, Dec. 19 starting at 9 p.m.
The Lightsaber Battle is free to attend. For every $10 donated, you will receive one lightsaber to use in the showdown. All ages are welcome to join in on the event. Battles also are scheduled for San Francisco and Los Angeles on Friday, all organized by a group called Newmindspace. Newmindspace puts together various types of events, featuring everything from pillow fights to, well, light saber battles.

Good news for those who are seeking more Star Wars-themed fun after they “pwn noobs” at the showdown. FLUXX is hosting the official Star Wars after party, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Dec. 19. The nightclub will open its doors to all the Lukes, Leias and Dark Vaders out there, whom will pay no cover charge if they don their favorite Star Wars character’s costume. Oh, and guests will also receive a free celebratory welcome shot for dressing up.
DJ Kyle Flesch will be spinning tracks at the party all night. For more information about the FLUXX after party, visit fluxxsd.com
