Enjoy a creative day at the Festival of Arts

Craft beer, local art, live music and delicious food - no neighborhood in San Diego does this combination better than North Park . On Saturday, May 20, the 21st Annual San Diego County Credit Union Festival of Arts will celebrate North Park's creative spirit.

Nine blocks along University Avenue near 30th Street will be packed full with entertainment and activities, including artwork, live music and dance performances, interactive experiences and artisan items for sale.

"Our neighborhood is driven by its diversity and creativity and this festival reflects it all!" said Angela Landsberg, executive director of North Park Main Street.

The free festival will also highlight local food and beverage vendors and, to wash it down, craft beer lovers can check out the Waypoint Public Craft Beer. Tickets are available for two sessions (each four hours long), during which attendees can taste unlimited samples from more 30 local breweries. And once you've had a few, show off your pipes at the craft beer block's karaoke stage.

At the West Coast Cocktail Garden, which will be on University Avenue and Herman Street, sip cocktails from Cutwater Spirits while watching artists at the Live Art Block and listening to music.

At the Kids Art Block, budding Picassos can participate in interactive activities designed to stimulate creativity, inspire imaginations and create masterpieces. The Live Art Block will feature demonstrations from contemporary urban street artists. Watch and be amazed as they create unique works of art on everyday objects like cars, refrigerators and boom boxes.

The festival will have six concert stages and performances scheduled for the entire day. Acts include indie rock, folk, funk and DJs - and the karaoke stage. Headlining performances will include music from Cash'd Out, The B-Side Players and DJ Colette, just to name a few.

Proceeds from the Festival of Arts will benefit North Park Main Street, a nonprofit organization committed to the development of the North Park Business Improvement District.
