J. Harry Jones has been a reporter for the U-T since 1986. He currently covers Escondido and San Diego County's backcountry including Fallbrook, Valley Center and Ramona, as well as Poway, where he has lived for 23 years. He has covered numerous beats at the newspaper including cops, courts and city government. The son and grandson of reporters at the Kansas City Star, Jones received a Master's Degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri in 1984 and has been a reporter for 32 years. He has been married for 35 years and has one grown daughter.
