David Garrick covers policy making at San Diego City Hall, which includes everything from the drought to medical marijuana to building new stadiums. Before taking over his beat in early 2014, Garrick covered North County for 16 years for the Union-Tribune, North County Times and Pomerado Newspapers. Garrick began his career in New York City, where he covered that city government for two years after receiving a master’s degree in journalism from New York University. Garrick graduated from Coronado High School and received a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley.
