Strong surf and dangerous rip currents will hit San Diego County beaches this weekend, arriving at a time when the weather is expected to be mostly sunny and warm at the coastline. The daytime high in San Diego will be above 70 on Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday being the hottest day. The temp will reach 77.
Forecasters say the surf will begin to build on Saturday with waves in the 2’ to 3’ feet range in North County and 3’ in 4’ in South County. On Sunday, the waves will bump up to 4’ to 6’ in North County and 5’ to 7’ in South County.
There will be a 3’ 5’’ high tide at La Jolla at 6:36 a.m. on Saturday, and a 5’ 3’’ high tide at 6:51 p.m. Diving conditions will be poor in La Jolla Cove.
The sea surface temperatures will be in the 63-65 degree range.
