Press Release

KAABOO Art Press ReleaseKAABOO Del Mar is thrilled to announce its second annual KAABOO ArtworK Experience, taking place Sept. 16 – 18 at the historic Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds. The ArtworK Experience will showcase a plethora of contemporary art, including live mural painting, inspiring art installations and unique exhibitions by dozens of globally acclaimed artists.

Guests can fully immerse themselves in a visual journey of contemporary art, discovery and creativity as part of the overall KAABOO ‘mix-perience.’ KAABOO-goers can casually browse incredible pop-ups by top galleries and exhibiting artists in one of Southern California’s largest contemporary art fairs.  KAABOO guests experience works from over 100 artists, hailing from across the country and around the globe. ArtworK features an array of visual media, including painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry, mixed media and more.

The ArtworK curatorial team assembled a show that gives a taste of all corners of the contemporary art scene. New this year, ArtworK will merge its space with Palate, KAABOO’s artisanal food and spirits experience, to pair the art viewing with gourmet bites and cocktails from some of the finest restaurants and chefs in California.  “It is extremely fulfilling to see the diversity that we’ve brought in with ArtworK 2016,” says Ariel Gordon, ArtworK Director. “You can be a seasoned collector or a casual culture buff, or anything in between…there will be something for every KAABOO-goer to discover. From July 6 – 9, 1xRUN will host a flash KAABOO print sale online, spotlighting top muralists: Askew, Caratoes, Vans the Omega and N.C. Winters. Once the limited quantity is sold-out online, a small quantity of prints will be available onsite at KAABOO Del Mar.

Alongside the intriguing array of visual stimulation planned for this year’s festival, KAABOO will present the inaugural PangeaSeed Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans, San Diego project, in partnership with PangeaSeed Foundation and Surfrider Foundation. The event, which supports public art in the San Diego area and addresses ongoing climate change issues, kicks off on July 9th and features KAABOO ARTWORK 2016 muralists. This event will further PangeaSeed’s mission to utilize the power of art to generate awareness and change perceptions of pressing ocean environmental issues.

“The scale and magnitude of each mural and installation piece displayed in our inaugural KAABOO ArtworK event definitely put KAABOO on the map as a key event in the contemporary art world,” says Amandalynn, KAABOO’s Artistic Director.  “Our instant international recognition has given us the opportunity to bring in artists from all over the world going into the second year, capturing a plethora of different styles, techniques and experiences. I am truly looking forward to seeing this year’s KAABOO Artwork program come to life.”
