Tucked into the unassuming strip mall that occupies the northeast corner of Grand Ave. and Bayard St. in Pacific Beach, you will soon find Good Time Poke, the newest (and welcome) addition to San Diego’s freshly blooming collection of Poke restaurants. A small, two-table patio compliments the clean, simple design of the storefront and alludes to more of the same inside. Good Time Poke doesn’t pull punches. Clad in white subway tile, this counter-service Poke shop is standing-room-only. But for what Good Time Poke lacks in space, it more than makes up for in fresh and unique, quality offerings. Seafood options include line-caught Albacore, Big Eye Tuna and Skuna Bay Salmon with the option to sear the fish (traditionalists gasp) upon request. Special adds include pickled shiitake mushrooms, charred shishito peppers and housemade kimchi, amongst others. Welcome to the fold, Good Time Poke – and thanks for bringing something new to the table.
