Raise a pint to military servicemembers

These military-inspired beer names make us want to raise a point to the courage of our servicemembers.

San Diego is home to hundreds of thousands of military personnel (both active, reserve and veterans). Contributing to more than 25 percent of all jobs in the county, the military keeps our city alive and kicking. We at PACIFIC would like to raise a pint to the courage of our servicemembers with a few beers that inspire us to remember their heroism.

The Road Home Saison, Thorn St. Brewery

Whether your friend or loved one is returning or already back in the San Diego sunshine, raise your glass to their bravery. This saison (6.7% ABV) is light in body, tart with notes of apricot and pear, and is delicious local take on a Belgian classic.

For Duty and Humanity IIIPA, South Park Brewing Co.

While this title can take a humorous Three Stooges or a gaming Resident Evil reference, we like to think of this hoppy whopper (11.2% ABV) as a respectful salute to all of those who have given their lives to keep us safe and free.

Batten Down Brown, Helm’s Brewing Co.

Toast our Navy servicemembers with this brew (5.8% ABV) named for the practice of shipmates sealing hatches with battens to prevent water from getting below deck. Crafted with six different malts, this brew has smooth notes of brown sugar, toasted bread, and toffee.

America’s Finest, Council Brewing

Toast to our veterans in the America’s Finest City with an all American Pale Ale (5.4% ABV). Made with classic Chinook, Cascade, Amarillo and Centennial hops, this easy-drinking beer is refreshing, with citrus and pine notes, and makes for a perfect growler for appreciation parties.

Victory at Sea, Ballast Point

Only the most popular porter (10% ABV) in the city will do for our Navy servicemen and women. This Imperial Porter infused with Caffe Calabria coffee beans and vanilla is still the veteran standard by which all other porters are judged.

Rescue Buoy Russian Imperial Stout, Rip Current

Give a shout out to our members of the Coast Guard with this wallop of a Russian Imperial Stout (11.2% ABV). Brewed with oats, molasses, honey, and roasty, toasty malts, this beer offers big notes of espresso, chocolate, figs, and licorice.
