Chew on this month's top restaurant openings, including Holy Matcha, Olala Crepes and Lofty Coffee in Little Italy

NEWS: j/wata Temaki Bar 

The latest from Rakiraki Ramen and Pokirrito king Junya Watanabe is a new sushi concept on Convoy. j/wata -- set to open this spring -- will exclusively serve sushi hand rolls in a modern and minimalistic space with just 22 seats at the bar. Beer, sake, wine and tea will also be available.

NEWS: Holy Matcha 

San Diego's first matcha cafe is finally here, with an official celebration going down on Saturday, March 11. Owned by USD-grad Geraldine Ridaura, Holy Matcha will enlighten locals on the benefits of matcha in a pink, tropical North Park location. There will be both ceremonial and premium grade versions of the drink, as well as matcha lattes, avocado toast and the occasional matcha donut.

NEWS: Curadero

Slated to open this spring, the coastal Mexican concept Curadero has just finalized its culinary team and menu. Executive Chef Brad Kraten leads the kitchen with antojitos ("little cravings") such as Sopa de Hongos with mushroom broth, epazote, chile arbol and oaxaca cheese tostada. Main courses like braised pork shank, a crudo bar with fresh fish and raw items, street tacos and more can also be found here. Curadero will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

NEWS: Snooze, an A.M. Eatery - La Jolla

One of San Diego's most successful and popular brunch spots, Snooze, is making a new move. With constantly-crowded locations in Hillcrest and Del Mar, Snooze will have a third home in La Jolla for fans to flock to for pineapple upside down pancakes and the prosciutto Benedict. The outpost is said to open by early fall, when a boozy breakfast drink will be more than welcome.

OPEN: Olala Crepes

Liberty Public Market's newest tenant is a French crepe concept offering both savory and sweet options. Take your pick from chicken, pesto, cheese and tomatoes; smoked salmon, cream cheese and spinach; salted caramel; nutella with banana and strawberry; peanut butter; and brown sugar with lemon. Guests can also create their own crepe.

NEWS: Waypoint Public - Del Sur

The Waypoint Public original location in North Park is ready to spread the burger and beer love. By April, Waypoint will be open in the new Del Sur Town Center. Owner John Pani and Executive Chef Rich Sweeney will bring along the signature menu, plus a kid's play area and plenty of outdoor seating.

OPEN: Lofty Coffee Co. - Little Italy

Little Italy has just welcomed a massive new coffee shop and all-day eatery. Lofty Coffee Co., which roasts its coffee out of Encinitas, is taking over the corner of W. Cedar and Columbia St., adding sidewalk dining and a full coffee bar, plus freshly-made pastries, eggs and yogurt to pair.
